Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Minister of State (MoS) Prime Minister Office (PMO), Dr Jitendra Singh said here today that Jammu & Kashmir youth and students deserve the best and should not allow themselves to be deprived of incredible new programmes and schemes initiated by the Modi Government with a primary focus on the youth. Calling upon the J&K youth to avail of Modi Government’s new programmes, he said, every youth of Jammu & Kashmir enjoys the same privileges and rights as any other youth in any part of the country and is also at liberty to try his luck and future in whichever part of India he finds appropriate, depending on his skill and aptitude.

Addressing a congregation of Jammu & Kashmir students in the union capital, Dr Jitendra Singh said, with 65% to 70% of country’s population below the age of 40, the India of 2017, including the Jammu & Kashmir of 2017, belongs to youth, who hold the key to the future of the State. He said, “what we elders fail to realise is that our children have grown wiser, much faster than us and therefore, they can no longer be misled or befooled by the double-speak or the tricks of the bygone years”.

Lauding the spirit and progressive thinking of the youth, Dr Jitendra Singh said, even during the last three months of turmoil in the Kashmir Valley, it was the youth there who were the saving grace because they are today awakened enough not to be misled by a handful of those who wish to exploit them with political motives. He said, the youth of Jammu & Kashmir, including that of Kashmir Valley, Jammu and Ladakh, is keen to become part of the fast- track journey of growth led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and has every right to seek benefit out of it.

Noted ideologist and thinker Indresh Kumar and Administrator of the Andaman & Nicobar Farooq Khan were also present on the occasion.
