Zahoor inspects Forest Offices, Nadpur Nursery, Carp Fish Farm Muradpur in Rajouri

Minister of State for Forest, Ecology & Environment, Animal & Sheep Husbandry, Cooperative and Fisheries Mir Zahoor Ahmad today visited Rajouri and Sunderbani Forest Divisions and took stock of the functioning of these offices. He also visited Nadpur Nursery Nowshera and inspected Chir Plant Nursery there.

Member Legislative Assembly, Pulwama  Mohammad Khalil Bandh and a team of senior officers of forest and fisheries departments accompanied the Minister during his tour.

The Minister also visited Carp Fish Farm, Muradpur Rajouri and got appraisal of the activities related to fisheries, both capture and culture.

At the Farm, the management informed the Minister about the overall fisheries activities in district Rajouri. He was informed that under Capture Fisheries, one each Carp Fish and Trout Hatchery has been established at Muradpur and Phalni Budhal respectively. He was also informed that there are 53 carp ponds functional in the private sector in the district. It was also given out that 1.60 lakh carp fish seeds were stocked in the private carp ponds constructed under various schemes, besides 20000 trout fingerlings were stocked in cold water steam in the district.

During inspection to Nadpur Nursery Nowshera, the Minister was informed that there are 2.10 lakh plants of Chir Pine, Bamboo, Banhama, Shisham, Caria Glauca, Rentha and Amaltas presently available in the Nursery.

Mir Zahoor directed them to ensure plantation in all open forest land especially of those plants by which soil erosion can be stopped. He said day by day the land is used for construction and other purposes so there is dire need to focus on plantation and stopping of soil erosions. Mir Zahoor also stressed for organizing awareness camps to educated people about the importance of forests and its preservation, conservation and protection.

While inspecting the Rajouri Forest Division office, the Minister went round various sections and interacted with the staff members. The Minister was satisfied with the working of the division and directed them for timely distribution of timber among the deserved families after proper verification.

Taking stock of the timber position in the Division, it was informed that Rs 12.17 lakh revenue was realized against the sale of timber, firewood and compensation and L.T. Fee during the month of March, 2016.

Earlier, the Minister and MLA visited Shadira Sharief and paid obeisance at Zariat Sharief of Hazrat Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah (RA). Special prayers were held on the occasion and Mir Zahoor and  Bandh prayed for peace, development and prosperous of the State.
