Minister of State for Forest, Zahoor Ahmad Mir, today chaired a meeting convened to review the stock and supply position of timber and firewood in Kashmir division.
Chief Conservator of Forests, Kashmir and other officers of State Forest Corporation (SFC) attended the meeting.
On the occasion, the Minister directed the Corporation to gear up the resources and meet the targets by the end of this month. He stressed on the coordinated work by the SFC and the Forest Department.
The Minister was informed that against a total target of 722049 cft, 220384 cft of timber stands supplied to the Timber Sale Depots of the valley.
It was given out that the total dumping and sale of timber and firewood by SFC North Extraction Circle Sopore as on date include 29164 quintals of firewood dumped and 23915 quintals sold and 180388 cft of timber dumped and 9627 cft sold. While the revenue realized from firewood is Rs 45.768 lakh, while as from timber amounting to Rs 30.143 lakh.
The meeting was further told that the 2524 sanctions were issued by the circle during current fiscal.
With regard to the South Circle, a total of 19842 quintals of firewood has been supplied, including 3990 quintals in Anantnag Division, 7593 quintals in PP East Division and 8259 quintals in PP West Division.
