75-year-old dies of COVID-19 in Jammu; J&K toll 306

A 75-year-old woman who had tested COVID-19 positive died on Sunday in Jammu, taking the number of people who died due to the novel coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir to 307.

An official said the deceased was a resident of Gadigarh Jammu. She was admitted at the isolation ward of CH hospital in Jammu on 24 July where he was shifted to GMC Jammu.

However, she was declared dead on arrival at 1 am today at the facility following which his body was shifted to the mini-mortuary.

Earlier, a police sub-inspector from Kupwara died of covid-19, officials said on Sunday. The police official, who was suffering from severe pneumonia, hypertension and type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, was referred to CD hospital from SMHS hospital.

So far 284 deaths have been reported in Kashmir and 23 in Jammu division.

Srinagar district with 86 deaths has the highest fatalities followed by Baramulla (63), Kulgam (26), 21 each in Anantnag and Budgam, Shopian (20), Kupwara (17), Pulwama (16), Jammu(14), Bandipora (8), Ganderbal (6), two each in Rajouri and Doda and one each in Poonch, Udhampur, and Kathua.
