Jammu, July 29
An Urgent meeting of the Bari Brahmana Industries Association was held today under the Chairmanship of Presidentship of Sh. Lalit Mahajan in the presence of Sh. Tarun Singla Sr. Vice President, Sh. Ajay Langer Vice President, Sh. Viraaj Malhotra General Secretary, Sh. Rajesh Jain Secretary and Sh. Vivek Singhal Treasurer BBIA Association and other members of Association in which the matter related to diversion of Road Traffic between Lakhanpur to Jammu via Dhar Road due to damage of Bridges on the National Highway was discussed in detail. During the course of discussions, Members present in the meeting raised serious concern towards the casual approach of National Highway Authority of India and Distt. Administration of Kathua towards the restoration of Road Link resulting the diversion of Traffic of Heavy Vehicles from Lakhanpur to Jammu via Dhar Road resulting delay in the receipt of Raw Materials and also for the dispatch of Finished Goods by Industrial Units which also results in to the increase in the Road Freight by the Transporters if no immediate steps on war footing basis taken by NHAI and Distt. Administration Kathua for the restoration of Temporary alternate Road Link on NHIA.
It is pertinent to mention here that the damage to the Bridge on the National Highway was done due to Flood on 19th July 2023 And the Traffic was diverted through Old Samba Kathua Road but no corrective steps has been taken by the NHAI till 27th July 2023 for Temporary restoration of Road Link on NHIA. The position is more serious that the Route of Old Samba Kathua Road is also closed for Heavy Traffic due to damage to Chakra Bridge resulting movement of all the Heavy Vehicles has been diverted through Dhar Road from Lakhanpur resulting delay reported by the Industrial Units in getting the Raw Materials and dispatch of Finished Goods.
It is worthwhile to mention here that Project Director NHAI said that it will take 3 to 4 Months to restore the 60Mtrs portion of Damaged Bridge on National Highway near Dayalachak and it is the need of the hour to for the creation of Temporary Road Link near to the damaged Site on war footing basis with the help of Army if require.
We request Hon’ble Union Minister of Road Transport and Highway Sh. Nitin Gadkari and Hon’ble Lt. Governor Union Territory of J & K Sh. Manoj Sinha for their kind intervention into the matter for the restoration of Road Link on Pathankot-Jammu Highway as early as possible which will provide great relief to Industrial sector as well as Common
