India Repels Drone and Munition Attacks by Pakistan Along Western Border: Indian Army

New Delhi, May 9: The Indian Army announced on Friday that it successfully repelled a series of attacks launched by Pakistan’s armed forces using drones and other munitions along the western border during the night of May 8–9. In addition, Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire multiple times along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.

A video shared on the Army’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle emphasized India’s resolve to counter any hostile actions with force, underlining the country’s commitment to defending its sovereignty. The Army stated these attacks, which were part of “Operation Sindoor,” were met with a strong response.

The Indian Army reaffirmed that all attempts to undermine national security would be forcefully countered. This development follows India’s precision missile strikes on nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on May 8, in retaliation for the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam.

In a separate statement issued late Thursday, the Ministry of Defence confirmed that Pakistani-origin drones and missiles had targeted military bases in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur. These threats were quickly neutralized using both kinetic and non-kinetic measures as per standard protocols. No casualties or damage were reported.

The Ministry reiterated that any assault on Indian military installations would be met with an appropriate response, affirming the nation’s readiness to protect its people and territory.
