People are united to build new J&K of their dreams: LG Sinha

‘Time not far when entire terror-ecosystem will crumble’

Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday said people are united for their bright future and committed to build a new Jammu and Kashmir of their dreams. The Lieutenant Governor who attended Hindustan Shikhar Samagam, “Badalte Kashmir Ki Buland Awaaz”, organised by Hindustan and ABP News Network at Srinagar said people are united for their bright future and committed to build a new Jammu and Kashmir of their dreams. He said the youth are exploring all the opportunities to realise their talent and skill and also supporting development aspirations of the society.

Women, farmers, tribals, underprivileged, poor and weaker sections are becoming socio-economically empowered,” he said. The Lt Governor shared the transformational journey of Jammu Kashmir, the socio-economic scenario and the unprecedented growth registered across all sectors in the last few years. “Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, J&K is growing at an impressive pace and the rapid development in the diverse sectors over three successive years is unprecedented in history,” Sinha said.

Speaking on the security scenario, the Lt Governor said the record influx of tourists, industrial investments, the successful conduct of the G20 summit and other national and international events has sent the message to the world that Jammu Kashmir is peaceful and is on the move. “We have a policy of zero tolerance against terrorism and are determined to root out terrorism, separatism and the ecosystem of conflict profiteering. We have been successful to a certain extent and people are living their lives without fear and on their own terms,” he said. Today, J&K is leading by example for other states/UTs in the country. Transparent & accountable governance system and seamless access to government services has improved the ease of living of the people, the LG said.

Sinha paid tributes to the brave hearts of security forces and police who laid down their lives in the line of duty. We will forever be indebted to our brave Police, Army, CAPFs personnel for maintaining peace and a secured environment in UT of J&K, he said. He further said terrorism and separatism is on the death bed and the time is not far when “terror-ecosystem” will crumble fully in the UT. Addressing a gathering at Mini-Secretariat to attend the inaugural ceremony of Veshaw Literary Festival in southern district of Kulgam, the LG, said that separatism and terrorism is on its deathbed in J&K. “Its high time that every house of the UT must rise to an occasion to reject terrorism so that the entire terror-ecosystem falls down. I believe time is not far when the terror-eco system will crumble fully,” he said. The LG said that people must reject terrorism and its eco-system and join the march of peace. Reaching out to the artists, the LG said that recently writers and artists from across the country exchanged views with each other in Srinagar. “Now its time for the writers and artists from J&K to rise and paint the changing picture of J&K through their art and writings,” he said. “Administration is seriously working to provide platform to every community including youth to shape their future by being the part of journey of peace and change. The society that was chocked for three decades has now started to breath freely.”

He said that J&K at present is ahead of other States in terms of development and infrastructure building. Without naming anybody, the LG said that those whose hands are drenched with the blood of innocents can no more befool people. “Enough blood of innocents has flown in J&K,” he said. He said that in Kulgam district, 29 people were provided land under Prime Ministers Awas Yojna (PMAY) and not a single person is non-J&K resident. “Not a single resident has been given land or home under PMAY as claimed by some politicians. Those who grabbed and encroached State land are misguiding people and creating confusion. I want to tell them that their days of playing politics of deceit are over,” he said, adding that there are 8000 families who have no land at all and majority of them are Bakerwals (Nomads).
