J&K PDP party chief Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday said that J&K has been converted into a prison and if someone tries to raise their voice they are threatened.

Speaking to the reporters, Mufti said, “Smart meters were installed here and electricity is nowhere. The electricity bills people receiving are higher and if someone tries to raise their voice then they’re threatened. J&K has been subjected to several atrocities and it has been converted into a prison”.

Continuing further she said, “In order to silence the voice of dissent here the Home Minister has removed legislatives, ministers of PDP, so that my party can be destroyed. Now the people of J&K have only power of vote and that is even being manipulated. They have tried to establish new political organisations by splitting PDP and have tried to suppress us in parliament also. They want to bring these new political formations in parliament, which came into existence post 2019. Home Minister Amit Shah want to break the promise of former PM Vajpayee who once announced from Red Fort that smooth and transparent elections will be conducted in J&K.

“In 2019, the govt by illegally using the parliament took away the special status of J&K and turned it into a jail. The ED summoned me, my brother and mother and I was made to vacate my house in harsh period of Chillai Kalan and now they want to snatch the voting right of local people. They also withheld my passport “, she accused.
