Authorities Demolish North Kashmir’s Kaaba Replica and Arrest a Mentally-Ill Man

A building in Waripora hamlet that resembled the Kaaba and was constructed by a mentally ill man has been demolished by authorities in the Baramulla region of North Kashmir.

According to reports, the man claimed to be Sheikh Nooruddin Wali, a Sufi saint, and urged anyone who couldn’t make the Umrah journey to attend his location.

The person was arrested when religious scholars, including Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam, voiced their concerns and demanded his immediate arrest.

According to officials, before any additional legal action is taken, he will be evaluated at a mental health centre.
