Jammu and Kashmir on Friday recorded 40 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the total number of infected to 1,489, officials said. While seven of these cases are from Jammu, 33 are from Kashmir region, they said.
Two bakers from Pulwama district were among 40 fresh cases of the COVID-19 infection in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, taking the overall tally closer to 1500.
They said the total number of cases has now reached 1,489, of which 1,271 are in Kashmir, while 218 are in Jammu region.
There were 749 active cases in the union territory — 603 in Kashmir and 146 in Jammu– and 720 patients have recovered, they said. The UT has witnessed 20 COVID-19 related deaths.
Official sources said that 16 of these cases, all from Shopian district, were confirmed at viral diagnostic lab at SKIMS Bemina, ten at viral diagnostic laboratory at SKIMS Soura, seven at Microbiology Lab of CD Hospital and remaining at Jammu and private labs.
