Decision regarding restoration of broadband under consideration: DGP

J&K Director General Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh said they have taken up the issue of restoration of broadband internet services in Kashmir with higher authorities.

“We have taken up the issue of restoration of broadband internet services with the higher authorities and soon a decision in this regard will be taken soon,” newsagency KNS quoted DGP as saying.

Asked whether there were chances of restoration of broadband facilities to media houses in near future, the DGP said, “We are thinking about restoring the internet services to accredited journalists and prominent media houses and soon a decision in this regard will be taken.”

On the release of political leaders, who were detained after August 5, Dilbagh Singh said, “Any decision in this regard will be taken while keeping the prevailing situation in mind. Already a few of them have been released by the government.”

The DGP also said that there was decline in local recruitment into militancy this year compared to previous years. He also said that security forces took lot of caution while dealing with the situation after August 5.

“There has not been even a single complaint of high-handedness during this period as forces exercised maximum restraint. People cooperated fully with the police in maintaining law and order. We expect same cooperation in future also,” he added.
