NATIONAL YOUTH DAY CELEBRATED AT AMROHI IN KARNAH

National Youth Day is celebrated in India every year on 12 Jan. The day is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda who was one of the most influential leaders in the Indian history. It was in year 1984 when the Government of India declared this day as National Youth Day. Swami Vivekananda’s teachings and quotes have always been a source of inspiration for the youth for all these years.

This year the National Youth Day was also celebrated at Amrohi on the Line of Control under the aegis of Shakti Vijay Brigade. The theme of this year’s National Youth Day celebration was *“Viksit Yuva – Viksit Bharat”*. The drug menace has been a major cause of concern in the Tangdhar bowl especially for the youth. During the event an Anti Drug Campaign March was organised in which peoples of all age group had participated. The campaign was aimed at targeting the lower strata of the society which is badly affected by this drug menace, in the light of the fact that counselling does not reach them properly.

In addition to the foot march, a lecture was also organised on Drug Abuse. During the lecture, the people were told that this problem can only be corrected with the genuine efforts of the affected individual’s family and society. The battle against this menace has to be fought by everyone to secure a bright & prosperous future of the Tangdhar bowl and to integrate this region more closely.

The celebrations were whole heartedly witnessed by a huge crowd of more than 120 locals. After the culmination of the event a light refreshment was also organised for the complete gathering.
