Jammu and Kashmir police on Sunday evening said that two terrorists have been shot dead by the security forces, taking the number of militants killed in the ongoing encounter in Sopore to three.

The encounter was reported in Rebban area of the apple township of Sopore region of Baramulla district in North Kashmir.
The operation to neutralise the insurgents was initiated in wee hours of the day after the Jammu & Kashmir police was tipped about their presence.
Meanwhile, mobile internet service has been suspended in Sopore as a precautionary measure to prevent rumours.
The encounter broke out today morning after a joint team of Police, Army’s 22 RR and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Reban.
As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.
