Srinagar, Feb 20: A section of the walkway along Dal Lake near Ghat Number 17 on Boulevard Road has collapsed due to erosion, damaging newly installed tiles and the underlying soil. The incident has sparked concerns over the durability of the lakefront infrastructure.
Eyewitnesses reported that the erosion has made part of the pathway unstable, posing a threat to pedestrians and visitors in the area.
This is not an isolated case, as a similar incident previously occurred near Badyari Chowk, Dalgate, highlighting ongoing infrastructure weaknesses.
National Conference legislator Tanvir Sadiq has urged the Deputy Commissioner to take immediate measures to prevent further damage. He stressed the need for a long-term strategy to safeguard the lakefront and ensure public safety.
Meanwhile, local residents and business owners have expressed their worries, warning that continued neglect could result in more severe damage.
