New Delhi, May 14 – Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan, alongside Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, and Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, offered a high-level assessment of the Indian Armed Forces’ successful execution of Operation Sindoor on Wednesday.
In a joint interaction, the military leadership shared key insights into the strong coordination and synergy among the Army, Navy, and Air Force that led to the operation’s success. The discussion highlighted how clearly defined strategic guidance enabled effective modern, multi-domain warfare with exceptional joint planning and execution.
According to the Integrated Defence Staff, “The apex leadership of the Indian Armed Forces gave their perspective on Operation Sindoor, underlining the Tri-Services integration and operational excellence demonstrated during the mission. The session also included discussions with military veterans and strategic experts.”
Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7 in response to the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 people. Indian forces carried out precision strikes targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, eliminating over 100 militants associated with groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.
In retaliation, Pakistan initiated cross-border shelling and drone incursions along the Line of Control and other border areas. India responded with a coordinated counterattack that targeted and damaged critical military infrastructure at 11 Pakistani airbases, including radars, communication hubs, and airfields.
Following intense exchanges, both sides reached an understanding to halt hostilities on May 10.
