Sopore, June 28, 2025:
The body of Bilal Ahmad Parray, son of Abdul Jabbar Parray, resident of Kiterdaji, Dangiwacha, aged 17, was recovered today from the River Jhelum near Maharajpora Sopore after sustained search efforts.
Bilal, a student of Darul Uloom Jamia Islamia Maharajpora and the younger brother of a serving SPO of Sopore Police, had drowned while bathing in the river on June 26.
A joint operation was launched immediately by Sopore Police in coordination with SDRF, MARCOS, local boatmen, and volunteers. The combined efforts of all involved over the last three days led to the recovery of the body.
The mortal remains have been shifted to the hospital for medico-legal formalities.
Sopore Police extends heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and acknowledges with gratitude the tireless efforts of SDRF, MARCOS, local fishermen, and volunteer groups of Sopore who stood shoulder to shoulder during the operation.
