Counter-Terror Operations Intensified in Kishtwar, J&K

Kishtwar, June 18: Security forces have intensified counter-terror operations in the upper reaches of Kishtwar district in Jammu and Kashmir, where a massive search operation has been underway for over a week. The operation is aimed at flushing out terrorists believed to be hiding in the dense forest belts and rugged mountainous terrain of the region.

A joint team of the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and paramilitary forces is combing through every inch of the area using advanced surveillance tools, drones, and ground-level tracking teams. The challenging geography of Kishtwar—characterized by steep slopes, thick vegetation, and high-altitude cover—has made the mission difficult and time-consuming.

According to officials, inputs suggest the presence of heavily armed militants who may have recently infiltrated from across the Line of Control and are using the forest cover to evade detection. Forces are also on alert to prevent any movement toward civilian areas.

The ongoing operation is part of a broader security strategy to prevent a resurgence of terrorism in the Chenab Valley region, which has seen a spike in suspicious activity in recent months. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to neutralizing the threat and restoring peace in the region.
