Mehbooba Mufti Slams OIC, Trump and India’s Silence on Iran Strikes

Srinagar | June 22:
Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and JKPDP President Mehbooba Mufti has sharply criticized the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), U.S. President Donald Trump, and India’s muted response following the U.S.-Israel coordinated strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites.
In a strongly worded statement issued Saturday, Mehbooba said,
“As expected, the OIC has once again limited its response to mere lip service in the face of a blatant attack on a sovereign Muslim nation. This passivity erodes the very foundation on which such an organization claims to stand.”
She further lashed out at U.S. President Donald Trump, saying:
“A country that rushed to nominate Trump for a Nobel Peace Prize now finds itself humiliated, as he plunges the Middle East into chaos.”
Calling the attack a “dangerous escalation,” she warned that the strikes risk pushing the region—and potentially the world—closer to global conflict.
Mufti also expressed deep disappointment over India’s position, accusing it of abandoning its historic non-aligned and principled role in global diplomacy.
“Regrettably, India—a country that once stood for moral authority and dialogue—remains not just silent, but appears to be siding with the aggressor.”
Her remarks reflect growing regional concern over the shifting geopolitical landscape, especially in Muslim-majority regions, where voices are calling for restraint, diplomacy, and international accountability.
The statement is likely to spark political debate at a time when tensions are rising in West Asia and diplomatic alignments are being closely watched.
