Poonch Police Foils Bovine Smuggling Bid; 10 Bovines Rescued in Behramgalla

Poonch, July 1, 2025:
In a continued and resolute drive against bovine smuggling, Poonch Police achieved a significant success in the early hours of Tuesday by foiling an illegal transportation attempt in the Behramgalla area.

Acting on reliable input and as part of intensified naka checking, a vigilant team from Police Post Behramgalla, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Surankote, intercepted a suspicious vehicle bearing registration number JK12A-2833 at Chandimarh naka point.

Upon inspection, the vehicle was found to be illegally transporting 10 bovines under the cover of forged/fake permission documents. Taking advantage of darkness and terrain, the driver managed to flee the scene, evading arrest.

The alert police team promptly seized the vehicle and successfully rescued all the bovines, preventing them from being smuggled towards the Kashmir valley.

In this connection, a case has been registered at Police Station Surankote, and a comprehensive investigation has been initiated to trace and apprehend the absconding driver and other individuals involved in the smuggling network.

District Police Poonch, under the leadership of SSP Poonch Shri Shafket Hussain (JKPS), reaffirms its commitment to enforce the law and adopt a zero-tolerance approach against bovine smuggling. Regular patrolling and naka checking will continue to prevent such illegal activities and maintain public order.
