Srinagar, Jul 2 : Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat, on Wednesday visited the Nayoga Tunnel in Qazigund to take stock of security arrangements and interact with police personnel deployed along the Amarnath Yatra route.
During his visit, the DGP reviewed the ground preparedness and coordination among security agencies tasked with the smooth conduct of the Yatra. He held informal interactions with police officers and commended their efforts in maintaining a high alert and ensuring a secure environment for the pilgrims.
Speaking to reporters at the site, DGP Prabhat said,
“All officers are actively deployed on the ground and are working in full coordination to ensure a peaceful and smooth conduct of the Yatra.”
The visit comes as the first batch of 5,485 pilgrims arrived in Kashmir amid heightened security arrangements.
The pilgrimage is being conducted via the twin routes of Baltal in Ganderbal and Pahalgam in Anantnag, with a multi-tier security cover in place, involving J&K Police, CRPF, Army, and other security agencies.
Officials told that security deployments along the route have been reinforced, and advanced surveillance measures have been implemented to ensure real-time monitoring and rapid response capabilities.
