A tragic incident occurred today in the popular tourist destination of Gulmarg, where a 19-year-old Youth drowned while bathing.
The deceased has been identified as Mohd Tahir S/O Alla udin , a resident of Budhal Mandi Reasi District. According to sources, Tahir was on a picnic whith his friends when he went to bathe in a local water body. Despite timely rescue efforts by the J&K Police Gulmarg, local volunteers, and the Indian Army, but he could not be saved.
The body was later retrieved after a thorough search operation and shifts to PHC Gulmarg were doctors declared brought dead.
The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the area, raising concerns once again about water safety measures at tourist spots.
