AGDP Vijay Kumar on Tuesday said in a press conference that they have nabbed the terrorist who killed Punjab based workers in Srinagar’s Shaheed Gunj area on February 7.
Talking to the reporters, AGDP Vijay Kumar, said, “We all know that on Feb 7 a very unfortunate incident took place that two labourers belonged to Punjab state were killed”.
He added, “The Srinagar police has solved the targeted killing very professionally and ‘Adil Manzoor’ who is a local of Srinagar fired at the workers by the motivation of Pak-based handlers and the weapon of offence have been recovered from him”.
“The DIG central Kashmir has formed a SIT and the probe in this case is being done in a very professional manner”, he apprised to reporters.
Speaking to the reporters, IGP VK Birdi, added, “We all know that a terror attack occurred at Shalla Kadal in Shaheed Gunj area of Srinagar on Feb 7 in which two natives of Punjab were killed. The two succumbed to wounds. Amritpal Singh and Rohit Masih were doing carpentry and they were reverting back to their rented house in Shaheed Gunj, when they were attacked”.
“A case FIR No.8/2022 u/s 302, 307 under relevant sections of UAPA act was registered at Shaheed Gunj police station and in a highly professional manner a police team was constituted and hard labour was done in doing field and technical analysis, during which clinching evidence were found and on the basis of these evidences some suspects were rounded-up. During the police round up we arrested the main culprit Adil Manzoor langoo of Zaldagar of Srinagar”.
“He was the main suspect who later emerged as the main accused. He established contact with his Pakistani handlers and conspired with him to carry out a terror attack in Srinagar. The weapon of offence was also provided by Pakistani handlers to this terrorist, who later carried out this target killing on 7 feb”.
“During the course of probe the weapon of offence have been recovered and DIG central Kashmir has formed a SIT headed by SSP South and they’re doing this investigation with utmost alertness and we are hopeful that we will chargesheet this case for judicial determination”, he asserted.
Continuing further, AGDP Vijay Kumar, added: “We will bring such handlers to India for legal action even if they hide in any part of the world, who recruit local youth into terrorism. If these handlers are locals then their property will be seized and action will be taken against their family members”.
“I appeal to local people, teachers and parents to inform police if you observe any change in behaviour of youngsters or if they’re getting radicalised through social media or if they meet any peer more than usual and take care of yourselves also”, he stressed.
“Because such radicalised hybrid terrorist later carry out attacks without the knowledge of parents or teachers and in digital world it is difficult to save them. We have busted terror modules and we will also bust in future”, ADGP Vijay Kumar said.
“These terrorists will be granted harsh punishment through honorable court and I appeal to parents and teacher to look after them”, he appealed.
Replying to another media query, ADGP added, “Police works on different terror modules and sometimes if ten terror modules are working we bust 5 or 6 and 2 or 3 got miss. The J&K police is still working on many terror modules, that’s why we become able to take preventive measures and stop terror attacks. We can’t share who is working on these modules”.
“The professionalism of police reflects how soon we have cracked this case and as we have told you earlier the police work on terror modules and sometimes some get slip from our reach and those terrorists then become successful to carry out terror attacks”, he said.
Talking about earlier terror incidents, the AGDP said, “In a previous terror incident in which one of our cop attained martyrdom, the Srinagar police cracked that also very professionally. The local police is also helping NIA solving other cases. In Srinagar city, there is only a local terrorist module that is remained and others are destroyed, but the Pakistan based terror modules who carry out attacks through locals will take time to vanish. We are working day and night and will take all the modules down in future”.
“We have discovered a pistol from Adil and a digital device and have sent it for examination to the forensic department. There are only 25 local terrorists that have remained in Kashmir and remaining ones are under high vigil. There is a drastic reduction in number of terrorists in the valley and in Kulgam we killed five terrorists”, he claimed.
On February 7 evening in Srinagar’s Shaheed Gunja area, a terrorist opened fire at two natives of Amritsar area of Punjab state identified as Amritpal Singh, who died on the spot and Rohti Masih who later succumbed to wounds in a local hospital of Srinagar.
