J&K Peoples Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday criticising the central govt said that the people should make right use of vote and should not fall in the trap of communal politics of the NDA govt.
Addressing a press conference with party leaders in Srinagar, Mehbooba attacked the BJP party and talked about the party’s rule of a decade, “If we look at the ten years performance of the NDA govt there were suicides of youngsters due to unemployment, farmer crisis, inflation and all such issues and other things which have been done to take country back to 1000 years. Attempts are being made to create riots and push people on the roads”.
She added, “BJP has tried every way to fan communal tensions whether to break mosques, madaras and try to find temples in them, to kick people performing namaz.
Talking about the demolished house of ‘Vaqeel Hasan’ by Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in Sri Ram colony of Delhi on 29 Feb, who led a team of “rat-hole” miners in rescuing 41 workers trapped for 17 days in the collapsed Silkyara-Barkot tunnel in Uttarakhand, Mehbooba said, ” They also razed the house of that man who rescued forty one workers trapped in tunnel in Uttarakhand”.
“When brothers from Muslim community didn’t fell in their communal trap they tried their lost ploy seeing this. Several of our youth are are still in prisons who were incarcerated during peaceful protests of Shaheen Bagh. I want to appeal to my Hindu and Muslim brethren to not fall in their trap and not to come on roads”, she said.
“Our senior community members are approaching courts and several judgements of the top court which have come recently are pro-people. I want to tell people to use their vote rightly and even if you raise voice against illegal laws don’t push yourselves in riots”, she appealed.
Taking a dig on BJP about the recent CAA bill implementation, she said, “The govt is targeting muslims with this law and the people should fight through court instead of hitting the roads”.
“The ecosystem of J&K especially Kashmir is very fragile and agriculture plays an important role in our economy and if the govt without contemplating lays railway tracks cutting thousands of trees in our fields then it will hit the backbone of our economy. It is good to lay networks of rails but experts should be consulted because to cut fruit trees and lay railway tracks through villages will impact local environment”, she replied to a media query.
