Navratri 2024 Day 3: Maa Chandraghanta, Puja Vidhi, Mantra

Navratri holds a great religious significance among Hindus. Navratri which occurs in the month of Chaitra is known as Chaitra Navratri. A large number of devotees celebrate this festival across the country with great grandeur. People observe fast and offer prayers to the Goddess. Third day of Navratri is dedicated to Goddess Chandraghanta, which is being observed today, April 11, 2024.

Maa Chandraghanta Day 3: Significance

Maa Chandraghanta is the ruler of planet Sun. The chandraghanta form of Goddess Parvati is peace loving and the devotees, who worship her with pure intentions, Maa bless them with happiness, prosperity and good health. It is believed that the sound of the moon bell on her forehead, removes negativity and cleanses the aura. She is the Goddess of Manipura Chakra, which is located on the navel so people who wants to get into spirituality and yoga, Navratri days are the best to start the meditation.

Who is Maa Chandraghanta?

Maa Chandraghanta established justice and discipline in this universe. Goddess Chandraghanta is the married form of Maa Parvati. Goddess started adorn her forehead with crescent moon after marrying Lord Shiva. Due to half moon, Goddess Parvati is known as Maa Chandraghanta. She rides on a lion who represents Dharma. Complexion of Maa Chandraghanta is bright golden. She has ten hands, three eyes, and holds various types of weapons in her hand such as Trishul, Gada, Sword, Bow and Arrow and Kamandal, Lotus and Japa Mala in another hand. Her fifth left hand is in the position of Varada Mudra and right hand is in the form of Abhay Mudra. The moon which is placed on her forehead is in the shape of a bell or Ghanta.

Maa Chandraghanta Day 3: Puja Rituals

1. Devotees wake up early in the morning and take a bath.
2. They wear nice clean clothes.
3. Light a diya with desi ghee, offer flowers or garland to Goddess Durga.
3. Offer vermillion or kumkum, shringaar items and fruits.
4. Recite Durga Saptashati Paath and Durga Chalisa
5. Offer bhog prasad in the evening and after that chant Maa Durga Aarti.
6. After offering bhog prasad to the Goddess, people can break their fast by sattvik food.
7. Avoid consuming – onion, garlic and other tamsik food items
