The Department of Education and Commerce of Govt. Degree College Kathua successfully organized guest lectures on the topics “Communication Skills for Holistic Educational Development of Students” and “Financial Literacy as a Gateway to Financial Independence” for students on Sep 10, 2024 as part of lecture series to be conducted in the academic session 2024-25. The event aimed to equip students with essential skills for personal and professional development.
The Resource Person for the event was Prof. Pawan Kumar Gupta, Head, Department of Commerce, Govt. SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu. He provided valuable insights into both topics, emphasizing the importance of effective communication in education and the role of financial literacy in achieving long-term financial independence.
Principal Prof. Seema Mir appreciated the efforts of both departments in organizing such an important event for student development. She encouraged students to apply the knowledge gained in their academic and personal lives.
The event saw the participation of more than 100 students. Dr. Ram Singh, HOD Education, delivered the introductory remarks, setting the stage for the discussions. Prof. Charandeep Handa, HOD Commerce, concluded the event with a formal vote of thanks. Dr. Pinkey, Assistant Professor in Commerce and Prof. Anil Kumar Verma, Assistant Professor in Education skillfully conducted the proceedings of the event, ensuring its smooth execution. Other members of the organizing committee, including CA (Dr.) Rahul Guptain and Prof. Manisha from Department of Commerce, also contributed to the successful conduct of the event. Other faculty members who attended the event included Prof. Sanjay Karlupia, Prof. Shivani Kotwal, Dr. Yashpaul Sharma, Prof. R.K. Manhas, Prof. Ambika Rajput, Dr. Jaswinder Singh, Dr. Kulbir Singh, Prof. Shivani Sharma, Dr. Satbir Kour, Dr. Esha Verma and Dr. Pratima Sangra. This initiative was a significant step towards enhancing student engagement and promoting holistic development through education and financial awareness.
