The main Ganpat bridge over the Chenab river, connecting Doda town to other areas and National Highway 244, has been severely affected due to recent rainfall. The bridge, a critical transportation artery, has been rendered impassable due to mud and rainwater accumulation, causing inconvenience to travelers, private and commercial vehicles, and locals.
The bridge’s condition has raised questions about the preparedness and response of the concerned authorities. Locals, who rely on the bridge for daily commutes to GMC Doda for medical treatment and other official purposes, expressed frustration and anger over the negligence of the authorities.
Eyewitnesses reported that despite significant funding allocated for the bridge’s maintenance, its condition remains deplorable. The situation has sparked concerns about the administration’s ability to manage infrastructure in the region.
