“Affarwat in Gulmarg Sees First Snowfall of the Season as Rains Drench J&K”

Affarwat in Gulmarg, one of the most famous ski resorts in north Kashmir, experienced its first snowfall of the season, marking the onset of colder weather. Alongside this, several parts of the Kashmir Valley received rainfall over the past day, bringing down temperatures that had been elevated due to a brief heatwave.

According to officials, parts of Jammu and Kashmir also witnessed fresh rainfall, contributing to a drop in the mercury after experiencing unusually warm conditions for nearly five consecutive days.

The weather department predicts more rain showers, particularly during the night and early morning hours. A few areas are likely to experience sunny spells in between, but heavy showers are anticipated in Jammu plains before the weather clears up by tomorrow morning or afternoon.

As of now, a significant improvement in weather conditions is expected, with mostly dry weather likely to prevail until October 4. However, night temperatures are forecasted to drop notably as the region enters the colder months.

Affarwat recorded two inches of snowfall since early morning, marking the beginning of the winter season and setting the stage for a much-anticipated winter tourism season in Gulmarg.

With the first signs of winter appearing, locals and tourists alike are gearing up for the colder days ahead, while the recent rainfall has provided much-needed relief from the unusual heatwave experienced earlier in the region.
