‘Meri Matti Mera Desh’ campaign organized Dogra College and J&K Forest Department

NSS unit of Dogra College of Education, Bari Brahmana, Samba, in collaboration with J&K Forest Department organized a plantation drive under “Meri Matti Mera Desh” campaign on 28 July 2023. By planting a diverse range of tree sapling, the NSS unit seeks to contribute for the conservation of the local ecosystem, promoting biodiversity and mitigating the effects of climate change.
During the day long plantation drive about 40 NSS volunteers of the college planted more than 70 tree saplings of different origins at two different locations. A total of 40 saplings were planted in the school at adopted village Bhatyari namely Govt. High School, Bhatyari. Mr. Surjeet Singh, Sarpanch of Bhatyari Panchayat was the chief guest who planted the first sapling of the day to kick start the drive. He appreciated the efforts made by the NSS volunteers and NSS Programme Officer, Mrs. Amarjeet Kour for making the plantation drive successful. Others who planted tree saplings during the day along with NSS volunteers included Mr. Sham Lal, Principal, Govt. High School, Bhatyari, Mr. Ashok Kumar Pandey, Vice Principal, Govt. High School Bhatyari, Mr Surjeet Singh, Sarpanch, Chak Bava and Mr. Sushil Kumar, Sarpanch, Nogran.
Further, more than 30 saplings were planted in Govt. Girls Middle School, Kanhal. Mrs. Kaniz Bibi, Headmistress, Govt. Girls Middle School, Kanhal and Mr. Jatinder Singh, Sarpanch, Chak Jrala took the lead in planting saplings. Saplings were also gifted to the Principal and Headmistress of the schools. NSS Programme Officer, Mrs. Amarjeet Kour said that the volunteers were really excited about the plantation drive and participated with great zeal and enthusiasm. Their work, skills and efforts were really appreciable. Further, she thanked the Forest Department for their collaboration and for providing saplings on time.
