The Jammu & Kashmir Police Cyber Cell in the Kulgam district reported on Saturday that it has successfully resolved several cases of online financial crimes and recovered Rs 13,69,377.
Police reported that they had been notified of fraudulent schemes.
According to the authorities, “these scams involved phoney investment opportunities where victims were promised high returns for additional deposits.”
The Cyber Police Kulgam moved quickly to gather the required information and evidence from the victims.
According to the police, they were able to stop the fraudulent transactions by deploying sophisticated cyber techniques.
The victims were successfully credited with the Rs 13,69,377 that had been kept and recovered.
Citizens were advised by Kulgam Police to be on the lookout for online frauds, such as bogus trading websites.
They also cautioned against installing unauthorised apps, replying to phoney SMS requesting credits, and clicking on dubious websites.
Additionally, the police cautioned residents against revealing critical or personal information online and to be wary of video calls from unknown numbers.
Police advised reporting any suspicious activity right away by calling the National Cyber Crime Helpline at 1930 or by visiting www.cybercrime.gov.in.
