A search operation to track down terrorists, whose movement near the Line of Control (LoC) in Akhnoor sector was reported last week, entered the second day on Sunday with forces deploying drones and other latest equipment, officials said.
Following reports of suspicious activity in the Jogiwan forest area by the residents, various Army units in the Bhattal area began the operation on Saturday. They believed these were terrorists who were infiltrating.
According to officials, the search is still ongoing, with additional troops being mobilized to cover a larger region, even though no evidence of the suspected individuals has been found thus far.
They said police parties have joined the search effort, and security forces have sanitized the area using drones and other cutting-edge tools in addition to sniffer dogs.
Last October 28 and 29, three heavily armed members of the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorist group were killed during a two-day operation in the Akhnoor sector.
