Temperature Below Freezing Point In The Valley

Kashmir continues to be in the grip of a cold wave as the minimum temperatures stayed several degrees below freezing point in the valley, the meteorological department said.

According to the report, the valley is expected to experience mostly dry weather in the next days.

The Meteorological Department reported that Monday night’s minimum temperature in Srinagar was minus 4.1 degrees Celsius, which was higher than the previous night’s minus 5.1 degrees Celsius.

Gulmarg, a popular ski resort in North Kashmir, saw a minimum temperature of minus 6.2 degrees Celsius, which was somewhat warmer than the previous night’s minus 6.5 degrees Celsius.

The temperature dropped from minus 8.4 degrees Celsius the previous evening to minus 7.8 degrees Celsius at Pahalgam, one of the base camps for the yearly Amarnath Yatra in south Kashmir.

In Qazigund, the minimum temperature was minus 5.6 degrees Celsius; in Konibal, Pampore town, it was negative 5.5 degrees Celsius; in Kupwara, it was minus 4.7 degrees Celsius; and in Kokernag, it was minus 3.4 degrees Celsius.
