As the minimum temperature dropped sharply throughout the region, Kashmir experienced its typical night chill once again, according to officials. However, Saturday’s weather in the Kashmir valley was warm and sunny.
According to Meteorological Department Srinagar, the lowest temperature will drop by 1-3 C over the next four days, while the daytime temperature will gradually and significantly climb. According to the MeT, there isn’t any noteworthy weather activity and dry conditions are predicted through January 28.
Cloudy conditions are predicted for January 29 with the possibility of rain and snowfall through the end of the month. According to the report, the weather for January 30–31 will be mostly overcast, with the potential for light rain or snow in certain areas.
Over the course of Friday and Saturday, the temperature in Srinagar dropped to -4.1 C, or 1.8 C below normal. Even colder nights were observed at tourist destinations like Gulmarg in Baramulla and Pahalgam in Anantnag district, with minimum temperatures of -9 and -8.2 degrees Celsius, respectively.
The 40-day Chillai-Kalan, Kashmir’s most severe winter season, finishes on January 30. Significant temperature drops and increased likelihood of snowfall are characteristics of this time of year. However, Kashmir has not yet had any significant snowfall this year. Snow fell over the Kashmir plains for the first time on December 27, again on January 2, and a third time on January 4.
