The Centre has convened an all-party meeting today in advance of the Budget Session of Parliament.
President Droupadi Murmu will address both Houses of Parliament on Friday to kick off the Budget Session, which is scheduled to begin on January 31.
On Friday, the “economic survey” will be tabled by the finance minister. On Saturday, she will deliver the General Budget. The Motion of Thanks at the President’s Address on Monday, February 3, will be discussed by the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha.
The Budget Session of Parliament will begin on January 31. According to Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, “the government has called an all-party meeting on January 30 to ensure the smooth functioning of the session.”
According to the Parliamentary Bulletin, the Budget Session will take place in two stages.
Beginning on January 31 and lasting until February 13, the first phase will begin. On February 1, the Union Budget will be presented.
Beginning on March 10 and ending on April 4, the second phase will take place.
“Discussions are scheduled for February 3, 4, and 6, with the reply set for February 6, provisionally allotted for discussion on the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address to be moved by a Member and seconded by another Member,” the bulletin read.
Speaking to the media earlier, Minister Kiren Rijiju urged opposition leaders to cooperate and permit productive dialogue. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is anticipated to give a balanced and comprehensive budget on February 1st, according to Rijiju, who expressed excitement about the Union Budget.
Rijiju also made reference to the previous Parliamentary winter session.
“In the last two sessions, there was some ‘hungama’ in the Parliament which created a poor image of our Parliament. I want to appeal to Opposition leaders and other MPs to take part and hold discussions in Parliament during the session. If the Opposition allows the Parliament to run, then discussions can happen easily,” he added.
