The Jammu & Kashmir Powerlifting team delivered an exceptional performance at the National Powerlifting Championship 2025-26, held from May 2nd to 4th in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. Organized by the Powerlifting Sports Organisation, the event drew participation from over 300 athletes representing more than 15 states across India.
Demonstrating remarkable strength, determination, and sportsmanship, 22 athletes from J&K proudly represented the Union Territory across multiple categories. Their dedication bore fruit, as the team secured an impressive medal tally and national accolades.
Among the standout performers, Sumit Thakyal received the prestigious Best Lifter Award in the Deadlift Open Category, while Ritu Charak was honored with the Strong Woman title in the Full Powerlifting division—both significant achievements at the national level.
