Pakistan Moves Troops to Border, Fires Missile in Punjab, Targets Health Facilities in J&K: Indian Government

New Delhi, May 10: India on Saturday accused Pakistan of escalating military tensions by repositioning troops near border areas and launching a missile strike in Punjab, along with attacks on health facilities in Jammu and Kashmir.

At a joint press briefing, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stated that Pakistan used high-speed missiles, drones, jets, loitering munitions, and long-range weapons to target Indian military sites along the western front.

Colonel Qureshi reported that Pakistan launched a missile at 1:40 am targeting an air base in Punjab and also struck medical facilities in Srinagar, Avantipora, and Udhampur. She emphasized that India had issued an appropriate and proportionate response, including targeting Pakistani military positions in Rahim Yar Khan.

Foreign Secretary Misri called Pakistan’s actions a clear provocation and rejected Islamabad’s claims of Indian missile strikes on religious sites as “absurd.” He also denied any significant damage to Indian infrastructure, citing time-stamped visuals shared by the Indian military to counter Pakistan’s assertions.

Wing Commander Singh reaffirmed that Indian forces remain on high alert and have effectively countered all hostile actions. She said India’s response consisted of precise strikes on verified military targets and stressed India’s commitment to avoiding further escalation—provided Pakistan does the same.
