Poonch, June 29, 2025:
Continuing its determined efforts against bovine smuggling, the Poonch Police achieved yet another success by foiling two separate smuggling bids in the jurisdiction of Police Post Behramgalla.
During routine naka checking at Chandimarh on June 29, 2025, a vigilant police team from Police Post Behramgalla intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK11G-1351, driven by Mohd Shabaz S/O Dil Mohd, resident of Kotli Kalaban, Tehsil Manjakote, District Rajouri, accompanied by co-driver Shabir Ahmed S/O Ahsan Mohd, resident of Galhuti, Tehsil Manjakote, District Rajouri. Upon inspection, the vehicle was found illegally transporting five (05) bovines under the guise of a fake permission document. Both accused were arrested on spot and bovines were rescued.
In a second incident on the same day, the police team intercepted another vehicle bearing registration number JK11C-9186, driven by Zulfiqar and co-driven by Abdul Rehman, both residents of Thanamandi, District Rajouri. The vehicle was found carrying twelve (12) bovines without valid permission. The driver and co-driver, however, managed to flee from the spot, taking advantage of the terrain.
In both cases, the vehicles used for transportation were seized, and 02 FIRs under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Surankote. Efforts are underway to apprehend the absconding accused involved in the second case.
District Police Poonch remains committed to acting tough against bovine smuggling and urges the public to support the police by sharing any such information in the future.
