Kupwara, June 29, 2025:
In a significant breakthrough in the ongoing investigation of FIR No. 186/2025 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Kupwara, the police have apprehended a major accused involved in narcotics trafficking in the region.
During the course of the investigation, the accused Umer Aziz Payer, son of Ab Aziz Payer, resident of Cheerikoot Lolab, disclosed that he had procured the contraband from Munzoor Ahmad Mir alias Manna Tanghar, son of Mohd Maqbool Mir, resident of Khumriyal.
Based on this disclosure, a search was conducted at the residential house and shop of Munzoor Ahmad Mir @ Manna Tanghar in Khumriyal. During the search operation, police recovered a substantial quantity of narcotic substances along with cash amounting to ₹4,93,100, suspected to be proceeds from illegal drug trade.
The accused, who had been absconding, has now been arrested and is currently on police remand. Further investigation is underway to identify other individuals potentially linked to the drug network.
Kupwara Police reiterates its commitment to combat drug menace in the district and urges the public to come forward with any information related to drug peddling or illegal activities.
