Extraordinary security measures have been taken with deployment of Armed personnel, undercover security officials and sharp shooters in the valley of Jammu and Kashmir ahead of Independence day celebrations.

Authorities have implemented unprecedented security measures in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of this year’s Independence Day celebrations. In Srinagar, the primary event is scheduled to take place at Bakshi Stadium, where Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will preside over the proceedings. Thousands are expected to attend this function following which high security has been deployed in Lal Chowk and its neighbouring regions as well

In Jammu, the celebrations will be overseen by LG’s Advisor R. R. Bhatnagar at M.A. Stadium. Security forces have intensified their vigilance, particularly in Srinagar, where a heavy security blanket has been deployed. Frisking operations have been ramped up at key locations, including the Srinagar-Jammu and Srinagar-Baramulla highways. Both armed personnel and undercover security officers have been stationed around event venues to monitor and neutralise any potential threats.

Full dress rehearsal will start from today in Jammu and Kashmir following march past and cultural programs involving participation of students as well.

Senior police officials emphasised that meticulous planning had gone into ensuring a safe and peaceful Independence Day. “All security protocols have been finalised, and the main venue, where the chief guest will address the gathering, has been thoroughly sanitised,” they stated.

High-rise buildings surrounding the venues in both Srinagar and Jammu have been occupied by sharpshooters from the Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), who are on high alert to prevent any security breaches. Ground surveillance teams, supported by aerial surveillance units, have been deployed as part of a multi-layered security approach.

It is to be noted that barricading in the valley has diminished over time during national celebrations, showcasing enthusiastic participation of citizens in the national events.
