Jammu, August 19: Amid reports that the National Conference has reopened the channel of communication with the Congress to ally in the Assembly elections, the newly appointed president of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Tarir Hameed Karra on Monday said that the party is open to form alliance with all like-minded parties.

Speaking at the PCC headquarters in Srinagar, Karra made it clear that Congress was not against alliance with like-minded parties.

“We are open for alliance with any party or individual who has/have an ideology to opposing hegemony, and dictatorial policies of the BJP”, he asserted, adding, “those who are opposing policies of the BJP are welcomed to enter into alliance with the Congress”.

“I am sure that constituents of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc would fight assembly elections jointly in J&K”, he said and emphasized the need to strengthen the concept of the INDIA alliance in J&K.

Asserting the Congress has emerged as a strong force in Jammu and Kashmir after Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, Karra claimed that the situation has changed and the morale of the party workers was very high.

“There is a feel-good factor in Jammu and Kashmir after the entry of Bharat Jodo Yatra and we have to synchronize, channelize, and capitalize this factor in the interest of the people”, he said.
