Srinagar, July 28
District Pulwama Squash Championship organized by Pulwama District Squash Rackets Association in collaboration with J&K Squash Rackets Association under ‘My Youth My Pride’ Initiative of J&K Sports Council concluded at Squash Complex, Gindun Stadium, here today. The facility at Gindun Stadium has back glass Squash courts with well designed area for the spectators and beautiful galleries for media fraternity to cover the matches.
The slogan of the Championship was ‘Say No To Drugs, Yes To Sports’. The players drawn from various schools falling in District Pulwama participated in Under-13, U-15, U-17 boys & girls, besides Men & Women and Team Event U-15 boys & girls categories.
Mr Hilal Ahmed, Deputy Manager J&K Sports Council was the chief guest on the closing ceremony, while Feroz Ahmad Bhat, Zahoor Ahmad and Shakir Yousuf were the guests of honour and Haris Nazir, Yawar Gani, Aqib Syed and Ms. Snobar Majeed were the special guests.
The chief guest congratulated all the medal winners and the organizers for holding the event in an utterly professional manner. He assured that every facility will be provided by J&K Sports Council for the promotion & development of Squash sport in J&K under the dynamic leadership of Secretary Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council, Ms Nuzhat Gul.
Later, the chief guest distributed medals & trophies among the winners, runners-up and third place individuals/teams.
The Championship was sponsored by Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council.
