Poonch, May 6: A 26-year-old man from Pakistan was apprehended on Tuesday after he crossed the Line of Control (LoC) into Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, officials reported.
The incident occurred amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, following frequent ceasefire violations and a recent terror attack in Pahalgam that left 26 people—mostly tourists—dead.
The individual, identified as Waqas from Tarkhal village in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), was detained by Indian Army personnel near the Chakan-Da-Bagh sector shortly after entering Indian territory.
Initial investigations suggest that Waqas may have crossed the border unintentionally. Officials confirmed that no suspicious items were found in his possession at the time of arrest.
