Jammu, July 28
NSS Units Govt. College for Women, Parade Ground, Jammu in collaboration with NCC GCW Parade celebrated the Vijay Diwas in the memory of the soldiers who fought selflessly in the severely hard weather condition in a zeal to protect the country and not to let the enemies step on their motherland .The event was graciously attended by the family members of the martyred soldiers; Smt. Jasvinder kour w/o Saheed S Randhir Singh, Smt. Seema Karlopia W/O Shaeed Hawaldar Vijay kumar ,Smt. Sharda Bhau W/o Saheed Hav Daler Singh Bhau Unit : 12 JAK LI, Smt. Rajkumari W/O Shaeed Subedar Major Nain Singh Jamwal Unit: 4 JAK LI Award: Shaurya Chakra (posthumously) and a great real life hero a brave soldier of the Kargil War : Ex Hav Pradeep Singh Mehta Unit: Corps of Signals (Trade Operator Special) who himself showed up his presence in the celebration .In view of Independence Day last year the focus was on the HAR Ghar Tiranaga this year the focus is on MERI MATTI MERI DESH and starting right from the Vijay Diwas the theme as celebrated was Maati ko Naman Veero Ka Vandan , the NSS Units planted 75 as mentioned in the guidelines of the government . The plantation was done in the area chosen to be the Amrit Vakita of the college. Not only volunteers but the faculty members also participated in the plantation drive (planting 75 saplings) . Coming to the end of the plantation drive Principal GCW Parade Dr S P Sarswat planted a sapling and made the volunteers understand the importance of plants in our life.
